TOPIC QUESTION: Per our textbook, Access, a relational database application, is the most widely used PC-based database management system (DBMS) software for both personal and business users. Like other database systems, the structure of the database file is of the utmost importance. For this exercise, you must demonstrate your understanding of the Access database file by describing how you would begin to create a database file with one of its tables. (NO templates.) Your example may be a personal or business one.

First describe your example by::

  1. Naming the database file
  2. Naming only 1 of the important tables in the database file
  3. Providing a detailed list of field names needed in the named table’s records. No generalizations.
  4. No Reports or Forms needed

(An example of a personal Access database might be one used for a wedding or home inventory or collection.)

  5. You must post on at least three separate days.
  6. You are encouraged to research the topic using the Internet to identify sources to support your response and posting. Be sure to include the URL (Web address) and indicate it as the source of your supporting documentation. No copying and pasting is ever allowed!
  7. You may want to type your postings in Word, to check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Once you have completed them, copy and paste the text into the discussion board window.

Note: Points may be deducted at the discretion of the instructor for any of the following but not limited to:

  1. Quality of the postings; responses do not contribute to the conversation, are too short/trivial, and/or do not answer the posted questions.
  2. Postings were completed on the same day.
  3. Use of slang, “text-messaging speak”, poor grammar, incorrect spelling, inaccurate punctuation, and poor sentence structure.
